the documentary covers his trial, for his abuse of her, but the scope of it was limited to just one singular incidence of rape (the night of The Incident™) and evidence of the pattern of rape and abuse was not allowed to be discussed/testified to. they couldn't submit the dozens of DV calls police had responded to for him hurting her, the hospital visits/pictures with bruises and busted lips. due to the very limited scope, he got away with it. it wasn't until her trial where the pattern of abuse & evidence to that end was allowed to be shared.
but you apparently always think it's wrong.
there were two trials; pattern of abuse was not allowed in the trial against him on the charges of... it should have been rape but it was instead something like sexual misconduct or something lesser, and they found him not guilty. the pattern of abuse WAS allowed in the trial against her. sorry if I wasn't clear on thatI wonder if that trial would be handled differently if it was happening now. I can’t believe the defense wasn’t allowed to use the pattern of abuse as reasoning for snippysnippy.
emmy rossum has been one of my favs since comet, so it had been on my list for a while. I find the writing far more clever than I expected it to be given the content. easy type of show to get lazy on but so far in S1 it hasn't done that.

think ill give it another try
maybe, but unlikely. as much as the internet/reddit love to spin a yarn about how easy it is for women to get dudes convicted on "false accusations," actually getting out of those situations is still difficult and scary. he threatened to kill her if she left (which is pretty standard), and he beat and raped her often enough that she could easily believe he'd follow through on it. that's a hard enough hurdle to get over, just reaching out for help in the first place knowing that if he finds out, he might kill you. then there's the embarrassment and internalized guilt aspect (I can't believe I let him do that/that I still love him, I must be truly terrible for him to want to do that to me, etc). the knowledge that even if you report it, he may get away with it, the cops will not protect you, you'll never be safe, but at least if you stay you can try to keep him happy & that might keep him from hurting you. the cops had been called out to protect her in many DV situations, but he was never held for long if he was held at all. and with her being an immigrant, it makes it harder - to communicate, since she's not a native speaker of English; & to be believed because she's the "fiery Latina" immigrant green card wife going up against the word of the good ol American Boy marine. No reason for a sorry.
I’m glad we’ve advanced somewhat since then. I would hope if this was a current event, she’d have a minimal punishment, if any, or she would’ve felt more able to get help before snipsnip.

there is a part in the documentary where she's trying to answer questions on the stand about him anally raping her, and I just fucking cried about her having to describe what he did to a room full of people, half of whom have a stake in trying to prove she's lying and one of whom is the person who did it to her & did that and worse secure in the knowledge he'd get away with doing it as long as he wanted.
imma chk that out tooStar Wars: The Clone Wars
It’s so much more than a cartoon series.
To me
Best star wars kids cartoon is Rebels. Better story than the first three prequels and last jedi put together.
Holy fuck.
We watched part one of Leaving Neverland. Jesus fucking Christ. Those guys go into some pretty graphic detail about their sexual abuse and grooming/manipulation wrapped around it. Holy shit. It will make you want to intensely barf.
