Food TV shows that you may not be watching but should be

its a docuseries so I guess it goes here and not movies? but I started the amazon prime series on Lorena Bobbitt and I'm already fascinated because I had such a poor understanding of the situation when it happened. I was young and it was pre-internet, so most of what I knew about it was from jokes, and wowee there's a whole side to it I never knew about.

Her marine husband purportedly abused her sexually multiple times per week for years.
One night she cut off his penis with a knife then went down the street (I think driving but it could have been walking) and threw it (the penis).
The penis was found and re-attached. John Wayne Bobbitt became a porn star for a short time. I'm sure the docu-drama focuses on what happened to Lorena.

I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. He should have obtained consent. As his wife, Lorena should have provided consent "regularly". I put that in parentheses because there's room for interpretation as to what is an acceptable amount of marital consent.

Cliffs: JWB was probably a dick of a husband. LB went berserker and went too far in retaliation.
I'm willing to bet I wouldn't like to spend time with either of them.

I went straight for the summary - it worked. ;) Yeah, she has a certain wounded-yet-still-feisty affect, he(saw interview years ago) comes off fairly macho-man/misogynistic. Bad combination. Only woman who go totally fetal position can put up with a guy like him long term.

I haven't finished yet, but he repeatedly raped and beat her, including raping her anally with no lube, making her ass bleed.

and there should be no grey area around consent just because its between married people - if you want sex and your partner doesn't, you don't get to force them regardless of if they've "met their quota."

I recognize that the law is still catching up on that, but the way you worded it sounds like you agree with the part regarding thinking a regular quota of sex is owed a spouse. if your spouse isn't fucking you as much as you want, figure it out in a way that doesn't involve beating and raping the person.

Scroll back and go to the sentence where I typed he should have obtained consent and then just stop there and know that's what he should have done. Everything else that you read into that is bulshit you just run into it let's not go down this road again you're reacting emotionally to things that I didn't say.

So I believe both these things to be true. I believe both spouses should obtain and give consent. I believe these things should happen on a regular basis. I believe that if one of the spouses won't give consent, the marriage should be declared null and void.

but you are bringing up her not giving him enough consensual sex regularly in a ways that comes across as defending him. there's no reason to bring up how often consensual sex should happen in a discussion about what was done to a victim of abuse and rape. one thing has nothing to do with the other, unless you're using the lack of consensual sex as a mitigating factor in his choice to serially abuse his wife.

Oh there's every reason to bring up her not giving consent because it's quite possible that she would never give consent which is a major problem in something called a marriage. Neither person entered the priesthood nor a nunnery when they entered that marriage and sent needs to happen at some point in time more than once and probably less than a million times.

but what does that have to do with him repeatedly beating and raping her and how she responded to that?
