Thread Crime victim uses submission hold, alleged burglar dies from injuries

What I'm not clear on is the part where this guy just left these two would-be thieves in the street. I didn't read the full write-up but it reads like he just left them for dead. This is where it all falls apart for me. I'm pretty sure vigilante justice isn't really what our laws allow for here. He should have called 911 right away instead of leaving people with possibly fatal injuries. If he's a good fighter he should have been aware of the consequences of his actions. Death is not the punishment for attempted theft anywhere in these United States. In fact, getting beat up isn't either.

Once someone threw a brick through a window of my car. Oddly, after doing this they didn't steal anything despite the fact that there was cash, cd's, a brand new leather jacket and a bunch of other random shit in there. The consequences of this for me were that I had to clean up a whole bunch of broken glass (never did quite get it all out of my car), I had to get a ride to work that day, and I had to ask my insurance company to send someone out to replace the window. The brick turned out to be an antique removed from a nearby patio and the owner was very relieved to get it back. He found out I had it by coincidence. Sentimental value I guess. If the kids that did this were caught, I'd expect they'd get some community service and hopefully learn a little bit. Do I want them dead or even hurt? No. But then again, I don't really want my worst enemy dead, and she stole medication from my dying mother. I'm not god or anything like it, and it is not my job to decide who should live and who shouldn't. I don't even want that job. What's more, I don't want most of the motherfuckers out there to have that job either. Especially not those that think any little crime should be punishable by death. What's next? Public stonings for adultery. Now where else have I heard of that....

The fucking guy died 8 months later. NOT on the spot. He knocked one out, then the other one attacked him. He defened himself in the attack. It happen to result in the guy being a veg for 8 months and then dying.

Stupid game.

Stupid Prize.

Even in a crazy state like NJ they respect the right to your property and your right to defend it.

I've had my car broken into and I'd more than happy to see the people that did it crucified on live tv and left to rot in my neighborhood. Crime would drop, one less person to go on unemployment, and I'd have something to throw rocks at when I was bored.

I get that, but it's not cool to leave someone unconscious in the street or on the sidewalk or anywhere really. In fact, in many places it is illegal to do so.

You forgot where the "victim" chased him an entire block before the thief stood his ground

Who gives a shit. An ENTIRE BLOCK WOW. I did the same thing when someone tired to steal a phone from me. I chased him yelled for help, and then gave him a slight ass kicking while holding him till the police took him away. Did anyone cry to the media about that? Nope every one was clapping and cheering. My lunch was free and I was even on the news lol.
The ONLY reason this is getting any news is the kid was white and young. If it was some crack head it would not of even made news.

The point we were arguing was, was the guy defending himself or not. Not whether the guy deserved to get attacked.

Why were you chasing the little guy or the big guy? I mean you chased him 264 feet before he surprised you.
OK. the article was about burglars that were trying to get away with a crime. They set off the car alarm, saw both him & his wife. It doesn't seem out of the norm to run what amounts to 3 houses away in distance, chasing these guys (fairly close behind) to see if you can stop them & call the cops so you can get them thrown in jail. If you're then attacked by these jackasses you're entitled to defend yourself.

Yes, he was trying to catch the two thieves. Instead of complying and waiting for the police they decided to Violently assult the victim. So he had to defend himself.

Where does it say the burglar saw the wife?
