I've no idea how to do that. Also, sheet metal isn't too sturdy. I need to mount taps to it that drunk people can't rip off.

What J said. You'd be surprised how much filling it with spray foam stiffens it.
 
That's why further down-thread, I suggested a 2x8 metal stud. Then all you'd have to do is notch the corners so you could bend it into shape by hand and do it all with a single jigsaw blade.

that's a long slow bend. just do a cut at the corners & bend.
 
Make a lid out of the styro, then fiberglas that prick with gel and cloth!!! Bet someone at a boat shop could fabricate that for you cheap - FLorida, land of boats. Kind of like an inboard boat engine cover.
