Yeah, that's gonna be REAL interesting around my house too...
but why? Grownups do lots of things kids can't do. I remember sneaking out of my bedroom at night and discovering that my parents watched porn together after we went to bed. I didn't sneak out of my room to watch tv behind the couch EVER again after that :(

Video games are a little different than porn, particularly when the kids' friends most certainly WILL be playing them.

Not that I'm actually a fan of not letting the kids playing the games, it'd be more of a power struggle over the PC :D

I agree with Kiwi on the doll thing. Toys can be inappropriate, and those Bratz dolls are not what you want to feed a kid's sponge-like mind with. They're a joke. It's not an issue of being overbearing or turning your kid into someone too insecure or selfish to want to be a parent some day or a freaked-out party animal who feels they have to play catch up in order to live life to the fullest because they grew up in some ultra-oppressed household. It's about manners and respect and character in general. Throwing away a doll designed for douchebags isn't puritanical. Some toys were just designed by ignorant assholes for ignorant assholes.

Video games with violence, swearing, and anything that isn't purely educational might as well be porn for kids. Innappropriate and unnecessary. Like I said before, kids aren't adults and shouldn't be treated as such, they aren't your equals, they're your kids, and it's like my mom always told me, "If your friends wanted to jump off a bridge, would you?"

My mom still tells me that :fly:

Yes, but there is a line... Now people tend to get oversensitive to the issue. Like not letting kids watch Bugs Bunny because it teaches you to be mean to others.

Yes, some parents are WAY to overprotective. Look at the playgrounds avaiable now adays, kids don't have any of the fun stuff cause "they might get hurt". So what, they are KIDS! Anytime a child falls down or bumps into something, their parents rush over to them and pick them up to see if they are okay. If Haylee falls down, we look her over, if she isn't bleeding, tell her she is fine and send her on her way. She is usually more upset over the brief disruption to whatever she was doing/playing than from getting hurt.

Well that's just stupid, although we werent' allowed to watch the 3 stooges... of course we used to sneak out of bed really early in the morning and watch it... until we were playing 3 stooges and I ended up with a cut cornea (I didn't put my hand on my face when my brother did the eye poking thing) so I guess that was kinda warranted

Let your child watch MTV!!!!!!!

I wasn't allowed to until I moved out the first time. :(

Everyone I know that had overprotective parents went NUTS when they got to college (our out of the house). Personally I think being overprotetive just makes kids more curious about the 'bad stuff'. Hell Barbie is prolly way more damaging to a kids developing self image. No kid in their right mind would think that a Bratz doll is normal. No one has a head that big....cept maybe Coqui and Elpmis.

It's more the mentality of being a "brat" than the image.

it's not about the head size. it's about the ghetto fabulous crap that they are.
