I'm not saying to get rid of unemployment. I don't expect everyone to be able to find a job the same day. However, I'm willing to bet that over 50% of the time, the reason a person has not found a job is because:

1.) They aren't looking
2.) They're not willing to do any job
3.) They're not willing to take a pay cut to stay in the same job field
4.) They don't care.

Should there be unemployment of some sort? Yes. Do they really need more than 6 months of it? No they shouldn't.

Agreed. A couple that I know both got laid off from their jobs. The husband was the first to get laid off. She has since found a new job through volunteer work at the local hospital. He won't even look for work until his unemployment compensation about to run out.

The Crusades was Prosthelytizing.

It call the the abuse of power by men in the Roman Catholic Church. You do know there was this little thing called the Protestant Reformation. Even the Roman Catholic Church of today would not agree to do some like the Crusades today.

And if you want more recent, you simply have to look at any abortion clinic bombing

Somehow I don’t think G_d thinks that Eric Rudolf or the man who killed the late term abortion doctor as a “Christian”.

Bullsh*t, the church of state aka atheism aka secular humanism has killed more people other than WWII or WWI. Even if you add up all the deaths from the Crusades, French religious wars, Thirty Years war, et cetera I doubt the number would even approach 1 million. The weapon were not meant for mass slaughter nor was the general population targeted. Hell Stalin killed ~ this many the Holodomor

You lack a fundamental understanding here. Stalin didn't kill all those religious people simply because he was Atheist. He fought against them, and whooped their ass, because the Russian Orthodox Church was the only thing that could challenge his power. The Russian Orthodox Church was about as powerful as Stalin, and for Stalin to have complete control he had to remove the one thing that could influence his people and possibly turn them against him.

On the other hand, you have the religious nuts who killed because their imaginary role model in the sky told them to.

I wish Stalin had conquered the world and killed off religion for good.

Stalin killed people because they didn't believe in his form of statism (See Trotsky). Stalin killed the best part pf his military officer core in the 30's because he was paranoid about military coup. For Stalin it was all about the power of the state. Which can also be said of Pol Pot, Mao and Hitler.

Exactly... Power, not Atheism.

so you honestly think they're going to tell you 1000 people applied for each of the 12 jobs and you have a snowball's chance in hell of landing one? :fly:

To be honest, he could be correct. He does live in a much lesser populated area than we do, so his results could be accurate.

I paid the premium for Careerbuilder's resume service last year, which in turn allowed me to view the approximate of how many people have applied for positions that show up in my searches and in general. The numbers are ALWAYS in the 1,000's for positions that could have been posted even just that morning, or previous day.

Here, I've gotten tired of clicking and applying, so I just did "select all" down the row of results and shot my resume out.

It's fucking retarded. And another problem is as you mentioned, corps are scaling back, which means lay offs. (Hi!) And when they do open positions, it's the Georgetown grads that get in above anyone else, regardless of experience, because they hold that coveted degree from that coveted college in this pompous, prickness of an area. Everything rides on prestige and that effing degree.

Another thing that is fucked up, is the amount of recruiters instead of the actual companies that are contacting you. And agencies...they want you to come in, sure, but they REALLY want you to fill that position. within that big IT corp, that you have no fucking clue how you could pull off even pretending to fulfill the duties of. They modify your res, send it to the company...I most definitely don't feel comfortable doing that. One agency wanted me to modify my resume to "include" heavy editing experience. Could I be an editor?
....I guess. I'm no dummy, I'm sure I could figure it out. BUT, they also wanted me to "include" the platforms involved with editing and I was so not comfy doing that! I walk in to the job and not know what the fuck to do with these..."platforms."
Anyway, they didn't keep in touch.

As I mentioned, I'd shot my resume down that row of results in Careerbuilder, many, many times...and they included positions from receptionists to Directors, not that many calls in return. So, I know that even if I wasn't able to view the number of applicants, I know that they have so many effing applicants for their stupid receptionist because it wouldn't make sense for me not to receive any reply. There were many days that, thanks to Adderall, I applied to 90 or so positions.

Take the number of grads/students at the ol' local G-town, the number of lay offs, and the smaller number of jobs available now...the masses of applicants are astronomical and really make you feel like you're wasting your time.

Here's the job listings for the two cities hit the hardest with unemployment:

Detroit, MI

http://jobsearch.monster.com/PowerS...=Detroit, MI&rad=20&rad_units=miles&tm=60&dv=

There's over 1000 corporate jobs currently available

Cleveland, OH
http://jobsearch.monster.com/PowerS...leveland, OH&rad=20&rad_units=miles&tm=60&dv=

There's over 1000 corporate jobs currently available

This isn't even including walk in jobs such as retail and food services

So yes......they do sit there.

What's the general population of Detroit? Poor & Black?
How educated are these people?

So, how do you expect these people to have any chance at filling these positions that they aren't even remotely qualified for?

Whoops...anyway, I've given up thinking that I'm going to land anything with longevity. It's mainly contracting now and and anyone farts the wrong way and you're gone. So, I've decided give up with all of this bullshit and do something about it. I'm goign to pursue a broker's license. This will be my "coveted piece of paper" that I will be able to offer to employers. Fuck my awesome references, my well formatted resume, my impressive company profile...it's not working for us. Every single day is like groundhog day with anxiety and I've had many pockets of that "wasting my time" feeling.

Liam is the only one with stability and I'm sick of it. I've worked in appraisal in WI, but here, this is not a field that is easy to get into. So, brokering it is. Money + stability + universal flexibility. If I happen to receive an offer for a position in the meantime, so be it, the extra money would be nice, but I need to think about our future and stability.

rich and white is a job qualification now?

Qualification? Not legally written, but come on, don't be naive.
I'm merely referring to the masses that are unemployed in Detroit vs the "1000 + positions" still open that Coqui mentioned.

If they are not remotely qualified, they will not be hired...and those positions will remain open unless a non resident applies and moves there. It's not merely due to the fact that these people may be lazy. Such a broad term in this instance.

BTW, this is the funniest shit - EVARR!

 You have NO clue, and you never will, just move back to your socialist "paradise" already.

I don't give a crap what people who feel guilty for their success think, they're sooooo far off the mark it's scary.

Speaking of clues, let me give you one. Australia is not a socialist country.

I don't care, not my country - they can do whatever the heck they want.

Let me guess, America is your country and can only do what you say?

Wouldn't surprise me..

Yep.

I think I'm officially done with your crap.

Good for you.

All I hear is wallaby ears flapping in the solar breeze.

Wallaby ears don't flap.. Go back under your rock..

Oh, I'm under it, I've never left.

My rock > *.*
