Where to move to next?

denver is an awesome city, i have relatives there.

check to see if renting your house is a possibility instead of taking a loss... that is, if you can get the credit for a new home. denver's biggest problem is the house you live in now in cleveland, is going to cost twice as much in denver.

also, denver is the home of your favorite beer :p

So you can get nice liveable houses for 30-50k there right now? Cause seriously, the houses you can buy for 75k are almost move in ready, just wash walls and carpet and a little touch ups here and there.

Yes, yes you can. Actually home builders are closing up shop because just for materials alone it costing the builders more than they can get for the house after it has been built.

Actually it will be 4 times the price in Denver.

But my salary won't be 4 times higher. Actually it is lucky to be 0.25 higher.

And my favorite beer comes from Delaware :wtf:

Are you sure about those figures? That isn't the Denver I remember, and I haven't been gone that long. Whats the source for those?

So what are the good places for jobs and culture and in my case safety in TX? Reasonable weather and job prospects would be grand. Apparently according to Forbes, almost half of the top cities in the country were in TX.

Ahhh, there it is. Median home cost.

FYI, there are a LOT of expensive properties in denver, which skews that number. Denver has a decent population of rich folk, because of the mountains and all. Cherry Creek, Cherry Hills, amongst others, are enclaves of million dollar + homes.

Take a look at this from Trulia. You can see the bastion of expensive homes. Of course, it's all prime real estate.

once you head into the suburbs, the picture gets better. And travel into and out of denver is cake from the burbs. Really, it all feels like part of Denver from how it's built.

I'd recommend jumping on a Denver MLS site, and doing a search using a 20 mile radius from the city center. Sort on price. Lakewood, Englewood, Wheat Ridge, even Arvada, will offer you some decent results. Aurora is okay, but be very wary of the neighborhoods. Some spots in aurora are nice, others are... disturbing. But the town covers a ton of square mileage, so thats not unusual.
