 It's funny that the bear didn't even go near the peepee

I just wish you, and your ilk, would stop making those decisions for me and others. You want to gather your slingshot and go face a mountain lion, fine. Save your money and head off to the wild regions. Just stop inflicting your insanity on me and all the rural town folk that are sick to death of your bravery that only they face.
Wait, aren't you making a decision for me by killing off the predators?

If they feel that way, then they shouldn't be rangers. Read the purpose of the national park system.

He wants it to be like England, where the people freak out if they see a squirrel and rabbits are the great danger in the countryside.

And a sane one at that.

It is the decisions that inflict pain and danger on others that I object to. People that want bears should be forced to have one in their house.

I always felt the same way about section 8 housing. Did you ever notice there ain't no public housing in Chapaqua or Kennybunkport, where the rich politicians like the Clinton's, Bush's and Kennedy's have property. Don't you think they should be forced to look out their back window and admire the programs they they support.

Same thing for wild animals: you want 'em? You should have to have one of your own.

Nice try. Nice stretch.

The National Park System
Caring for the American Legacy

"...to promote and regulate the use of the...national parks...which purpose is to conserve the scenery and the natural and historic objects and the wild life therein and to provide for the enjoyment of the same in such manner and by such means as will leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations."

The first National Park was Yellowstone in 1872 and we were aggressively killing off bears, mountain lions and wolves at the time; moreover, the parks are for 'enjoyment' and not survival.

You should read better. That quote you have (which I posted earlier) is from an act signed in 1916.

Well, that certainly is high opera of you duder.

Perhaps you need to stumble across a 700 lb bear in the woods and then you would feel differently (that is after you scraped away the shit that ran down your legs).

I've stumbled across 4 bears in the woods on separate occasions. You know what they did? They shambled away. In fact the most threatening animal I've ever encountered was a moose, the great predator of plant life.

There is a difference between the first National Park and the National Park system. But does it really matter? The point is that we were killing off predators when the first National Park was formed and when the system was created.

The parks are for preservation and enjoyment. But, basis their history, they were not intended to preserve predatory animals; rather, they were for the enjoyment of the citizenry.

Since you stumbled, I guess your alcoholic breath was too much for 'em to take. Next time pop a tic tac and get eaten alive.

:p

You post a quote that stated the purpose of the National Park System, then proceeded to talk about the National Park of Yellowstone before the System was founded. So yes, there is a difference. One actually applies to the parks today. Guess which one.

Seeing as they stationed the Army in Yellowstone to stop poaching in 1877 1. I think "conservation" has always been the idea.

lol you got lucky. Moose can be fekkin mean shits.

Each year in Alaska, there are more moose-related deaths than bear-related deaths.

Mooses are herbivores, and it's a darn good thing they are. Otherwise there'd be even more moose-related deaths.
