Advice The Home Improvement/Automation Thread

You live in MoCo right? I have no idea how people afford suff there.
got in near the end of of the 08 crash, refinanced when rates were through the floor in `20. No way I could afford otherwise. Its a great lot, good schools, but small place, little over 1300sqft, one bath 1920s farmhouse.

I'm almost paid off, but the land is worth so much, its golden handcuffs. I could sell the place for around what fly's is going for, maybe +100k, but the far better value is to build a new house on the land, which will skyrocket the overall value.

I bought for ~300ish, and could probably sell for around 525-550, but the minimum place that would increase my standard of living is like 800k, and its a very minimal increase in standard of living

Like 440k of that sale value would be land value because I have a couple acres. So the plan is to try to swing a construction loan with the land as equity and build a really nice place that fits the family better and boosts the overall value.

That's awesome. Timing++ Probably anyone who could afford it would use it for a new house. I know some dope builders in Annapolis when you swing it. Pure custom homes. :p We used to do stuff as far as Langely/Great Falls VA.

muh fuckin' sink fell out.

I lifted it back into place with some scissor jacks and used some Liquid Nails Fuze It, but I'm now looking for a new sink, as that one's been a pain in the dick ever since we moved in. @AppleTurkey wants an apron-front drop-in. I'll probably indulge that.

I hate under mount sinks
Did the brackets pull out?

I put in a farmhouse style one in my kitchen, but I built a full on cradle for it built into the cabinets, so its not hanging from clips or adhesive, but rather resting on a 1x3 hardwood frame

If i ever have to remove it, since its farmhouse style with no countertop in front of it, I can slide it forward off the frame if i ever need to remove

Undermount sinks suck. They usually at least have brackets though. Just adhesive is extreme corner cutting.

Farmhouse sink is gonna start at $1500, better pick out one you love.

I'm not going with a standing seam farmhouse sink soldered on site, they start around $400 here for porcelain.

Got the backpack battery holder for my EGO 56v gear.

Makes using the leaf blower and string trimmer so much easier without the battery on the ass end of the tool.

I'd love one of the riding mowers but they review terribly. Lotta plastic shit that breaks and then 3-8 week lead time on warranty parts.

Should probably tow it outside the house.

 I was thinking kohler or american standard cast iron (probably what you mean by porcelain). Then you need a dope faucet which is like another $500.

Custom sinks aren't really available to us commoners unless you want to drop 5k on an earthernware hecho en mexico type deal.

Yeah, even Kohler starts around $600.

But all the nice looking Kohlers are undermount. The only drop in is stainless and I'm not interested in that.
