it's odd because the show that focused on the exploratory aspect of star trek didn't have a science officer on the cast
DS9 had Jadzia and Enterprise had T'Pol. I guess Janeway counts since she came up through the science department before switching to command.
Broccoli was the best character.I enjoy them a lot more toward the end but that first season can be hard to watch for some. They were still getting their footing, hadn't really figured out who the characters were, Picard was a huge stick in the mud. But it gave them a lot of room to grow and eventually the show grew a beard.
That was actually a rarity. I've been watching for it the entire series.did you ever notice how he sits down?

Enjoyable is not the same as quality, and that first season has some serious misfires.I just finished all 7 seasons of TNG and enjoyed them.
