So my daughter is battling chronic migraine. She hasn't attended an entire week of school in two years because she misses so much due to attacks. It's torture to sit around watching her writhe around in pain and vomit in a bucket. We are seeing a pediatric headache specialist and trying different medications, but nothing seems to be able to stop this or bring her much relief yet. We'll keep trying. She's also had tics since she was little and they've gotten so much worse. She's now got tics that are disrupting her ability to do things and hurting her and so we took her to a neuro for that and they diagnosed her with Tourette Syndrome. So now we have this whole new world of shit to figure out. She's still screened often to make sure her Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis doesn't come back.

And Max now has been diagnosed with periodic fever, aphthous stomatitis, pharyngitis, adenitis (PFAPA) which is apparently on the rise and is a suspected after effect of covid. Unfortunately, most PFAPA kids can get a tonsillectomy and be fine but apparently covid PFAPA kids don't have that luxury. We are on the waiting list for a pediatric rheumatologist so we can start to sort that out. If your kid gets a fever every 4-6 weeks, how the hell do I know if he has covid, the flu, strep, some other shit, or if it is a PFAPA flare? So I'm keeping him home when this happens. I've become really good friends with the school nurse.

I'm all done. My kids deserve better than this shit.

omg im so sorry. i had to read your post twice to process that all! i can’t imagine what you guys are going through ..

re: the migraines. has she been tested for allergies? certain allergies can trigger migraines (im sure you know this)

and the fever thing with max, the rheumatologist is the best course of action. my autoimmune disorder gives me multiple fevers per month. like some months it’s crazy. but now it’s easier for me to differentiate from the fevers being my lupus VS something else like a cold

i hope you guys catch a break soon. positive vibes mama

We haven't identified any migraine triggers yet other than weather. We know there are more, but it's a long process to figure them out. She has no allergies.

Yeah, I hope we get to the point where we know what his fevers are and why. It's tough when you are 7 and don't really know your body yet.

 This is so heavy. Lots of hugs, friend. Children should never have to go through stuff like this. Here's hoping that there are resolutions in you guys' future.
