Would be easier just to set up another entire airgapped network by leasing private lines.
Or have everyone use Freenet and Tor over the current network.

By that logic, this hacker net would also be illegal.
the true internet would get forced back to dialup *shudder*
you can't blacklist a zillion modems connecting each other. painfully slow however
essentially peer to peer internet. massively distributed computing
Is great if you scrap the entire idea of websites.essentially peer to peer internet. massively distributed computing
just thought the idea up a minute ago. don't have all the answers yet.
How is that supposed to work without a central server?
That looks like a mess. Regardless it would also be taken down if it were to be used to circumvent SOPA restrictions.
Its actually put together a lot better than Tor, that's for sure. But anything with randomized/distributed DNS names looks like a mess, even though it isnt...
And it would be really hard to take down, since you can start your own Darknet - with a circle of only the people you want. At one point, some co-workers and I were talking about using it for distributed/backup file storage on PCs. It's really neat software.
You don't think the owners of the communication lines could tell if this was happening on their lines?
Its all encrypted communication. It would look no different to them than you browsing your bank's website.
