Still trying to figure out how this "surprise, that was a stupid idea" business experiment represents a 'socialist' government in any way, though.

Pretty sure a "socialist" government will provide a service up front (health care, road maintenance, whatever) instead of free fuckin' tangible goods for you to raid at your heart's content... and they'll tax you for providing that service.
which is why they used 'socialist tinged'

"The 'value' made belongs to everyone" doesn't actually cover it's costs. :(

not sure you understand what 'socialist tinged' meant in the article so you're trying to generalize and brush it off entirely.
I just told you what it meant. You are welcome to take what you want from it though. A word like socialist-tinged is essentially meaningless anyways. It's either socialist or it isn't. I don't care to argue semantics with you, so I'll just say I disagree with your interpretation.

This is socialist-tinged like the melted ice cubes after a drink is finished are alcohol-tinged.
He's somehow found a way to argue that they called it socialism but then said it wasn't because they used "tinged" in the article. So now, just after being called out on that not being socialism, that's not what was being said. He probably should just admit that the article got him instead of arguing semantics to make things go his way.

I think you just need to admit that 'socialist tinged' isn't socialism, & that the 'feel good' ideals of shared value don't actually cover costs, and are in fact a regressive business model.

It's nice to daydream that life could be just like living at home when mom & dad picked up the tab & things were easy. Sure, you did exhaustive chores like mow, or vacuum, but at some point, the 18yr old+ handout crowd needs to at least entertain the idea of when they'll actually be able to provide for themselves, and then, most drastically, provide for themselves and the next gen handout crowd.

It used to be parents that taught their kids, & when they turned 18 they could go out and be productive members of society, but somehow only moving out of mom & dads basement sounds good if someone else picks up the tab.

I think it was supposed to be a "from each according to their means, to each according to their need" thing but without an overarching authoritarian to define and enforce what everyone's means and needs are it falls flat.
Turns into an abused honor system, like the farmer who leaves a bunch of eggs and a coffee can out by the road. Sign says"take a dozen eggs and leave $2 in the coffee can"
Eggs are always gone but the coffee can ain't always full.

Actually more like "leave what you can in the coffee can" and the can's empty.

How have you switch this to housing? But since you're there, parents started teaching their kids to move out at 18 when buying a house was cheap as fuck from an economical boom. Historically, multifamily homes are not unusual. It's cheaper for everyone involved and shitloads better for the environment.

nothing 'switched.' It's still the mentality of someone else covering costs..

Socialism is really seductive. Until you try to pay for it.
No, socialism is "everyone pays their fair share into the government pot, government provides services to the public out of the pot", not "free shit for all"

Like, Canadian health care isn't free... I pay for it out of my taxes, and since I'm above the average national income, I pay more than most people into it. And I'm perfectly cool with that - it's there if I need it (and I've needed it) and there's a great satisfying piece of mind associated with knowing I'm not gonna get fucked with a medical bill if something horrible happens to me. There's no "well fuck I got cancer, do I decide between emptying my bank account to get treated and live the rest of my life in economic misery, or drop dead in X months because that way my kids might have a chance at college?" - you get your referral and get your shit taken care of and don't think twice about it.

I'd even argue it's more efficient and cheaper, because you don't have numerous layers of private hospitals, health insurance companies, etc... all taking their profit share and sharing that profit largely with a small group of rich assholes, adding more to the constant bleed of money from the middle class to the upper class that you can't deny is going on worldwide.

And I'm not exactly advocating for full scale USSR style commie socialism that sounds like a fairy tale but turns out miserable. I'm happy with how Canada's going, and the the Nordic countries, Germany etc have a pretty good thing going too and are kicking ass economically.

The US has the most costly, by far, healthcare in the OECD. Plus, incredibly low comparative quality.

Hooray capitalism!
