I did that with my last bubbly battery, and was disappointed with the lack of fire.
I put it in a bucket of water, and stabbed it a bunch of time with a pitchfork. It anemically bubbled

I know a bunch of people that use old ovens to sterilize and dry soil. Might just be dirt.
I just spent the last half hour calculating it'd take about $300 to fill a steel trash can with baking soda and sugar.

And after sharing this idea with a few idiots I know locally online... one of them lives next door to the fire chief for the area and is gonna pitch this at them for a fundraising event.
We figured we'd have to pull the fire department in anyway because setting that thing off would generate a pile of smoke and get them called anyway.
