I found this fly last night, he's already dead or near-dead in the top pic and his abdomen is distended bc it's full of FUNGUS, the second picture is this morning and you can see it has fruited a bit.
this is another different fly (same species, different individual) I found the other day who was all the way mushroom butt-ed when I found it

here's a link to some info about this particular fungus, y'all may be familiar with Cordyceps, it's a similar dealio but particular to a few species of fly hosts.
