I was poz for 11 days, even though I felt fine by day 4.goddamnit, my rapid test came back positive again.
And it came back Sunday night for the 3rd time. This time I'm just taking acetaminophen for the 100F fever. Swelling of tonsils isn't too bad this time around. I have an annual physical exam at my PCP tomorrow. Not leaving without a referral to an ENT. I don't care where in Maine. I just need to see an ENT like now. This came back again 9 days ago. Another trip to ER. This time they gave me an oral steroid liquid (nasty taste) and some antibiotics. Then a script for 3 days of Prednisone and 10 days of antibiotics. Cleared it up again. Called my ENT doctor office but they won't see me without referral. Called PCP to get referral. Referral accepted by insurance and the ENT. But ENT lost the surgeon who did my sinus surgery and they only have a per diem doctor now. I asked for another referral to a different practice. I think I may need to get my tonsils removed. Probably something to do with my sinus surgery.
Fun times!
I know most of your trouble here specifically relates to not even getting to see an ENT about the issue in the first place - when I was having my tonsil troubles I HAD an ENT (who I had to see all the fucking time), but I was in a similar boat in that this was riiiiiiight as they were deciding that they should be more conservative about tonsillectomies so they made me wait and endure years of bullshit (and because their solution instead was to prescribe antibiotics every time, they were instead most likely contributing to the rise of drug-resistant bacteria with me as the petri dish). And it came back Sunday night for the 3rd time. oooooooh let me read!!!!@Petunia This blog post (much of it over my head) talks about a study of one, then later five, patients with severe lupus. All of them have been seemingly cured by killing the cells that make the antibodies that attack you. And 8-12 months later, still no evidence of disease. Pretty cool!
Small study, but HUGE result, so in theory - promising.

Well shit, that sounds seriousSo 6 weeks ago I contracted staph based pneumonia in my left lung. Been on IV antibiotics ever since. Lucky they didn't have to remove half my lung. 5 abscesses. Bloody sputum. They keep trying to kill me...
But I refuse to die.
Truly. Of the 5 times I've been somewhere near death, this one may take the cake. It's kinda neck and neck with testicular cancer when I was 19. That chemo was pretty painful (due to the drug Cisplatinin).Well shit, that sounds serious
