Ontopic Dorys thread of Meandering Nonsense

You're old fashioned

Over the 19th and 20th centuries, spelt was much more commonly seen in British writing than spelled. It wasn’t necessarily considered a mistake to use spelled in Britain, spelt just happened to be the preferred, more common spelling.

This preference seems to be waning, however, as spelled has grown in popularity in Britain in recent years (see below).

So you're saying you prefer English to be bastardised and modern? You've changed.

Day 29.

First World Problems - Send Help!

I'll wait you out you scheming bastard
Stare you down with my glare
Just beware
Because I gotta a whole lotta time on my hands
And a backlog of demands
Waiting on me for you to sort yourself out
Or out the window you're going
Without a fucking doubt

No forums, no virtual agent
No stranger in far places
Can help you out
You're disconnected from life
I pulled the plug
Off and on. Off and on.
In and out and out again.
Off, on, off, on.
Keep blinking your lights at me and you'll see
What kind of Office Space wrath I have inside of me

You can protest as much as you like
But I've handled bigger foes than you
Beat em down without a fight
So come on punk make my day
Keep refusing and disobey
I gotta window with no locks on
Waiting for a machine to fall from
They'll call it suicide
But I'm gonna be the one who pushes you
From that ledge
Into nextdoors hedge
Fuck you printer
You won't beat me
I'll beat you
Just you wait and see
Fuck you HP!

thank the Lord for endings with a twist! 😅

Day 30

Virus

Are you self isolating hyson green
cos it doesn't seem
You read the news
About the flus
That are ridding the place
Of people the government hate

Getting burnt by the sun
Trying not to feel glum
What the hell is wrong
It won't be long
Til the population is decimated
The elite grabbing land from the populated

The sun might be nice
But if you get too close
It'll stab you, no joke.
Good kinda day
But what price
Does the earth pay?
Are we seeing the effects of climate change
Lifting a bit with less emissions
Will you change your missions
When this ends and you go back
To the day to day crack
Or will you forget when there was no PPE
People dying. Are you getting enough glee?
Going out and spreading a virus
That's hurting nurses

Oh well
Enjoy the sun
I'll stay away
Busy my day
Driving round
Feeling the burn
Hoping it's not your turn
To feel a tight chest
Grip for your breast
Because it was okay to run and joke
Have a natter and a smoke
On street corners with your pals
Like pigs to the slaughter
You might be killing someone's daughter

But fuck it.
Guess you didn't hear
About the flu
So enjoy your beer
Ignore what's in the air
Deadly oxygen floating
Stomach full of booze, bloating
Letting down your barriers
Not seeing hurdles
But rules to jump through
If only you knew
The truth on the ground
Of how many dead are being found

Unreported, anonymous, nameless
Someone's father, mother, son, faceless
It won't happen to you
Because you don't have a clue
If ignorance is bliss
Then I just wish
The infection gives you a miss
Because what's in your mind can't be changed
There ain't no ways
You'll believe what people are doing
Clap for the NHS? They should be booing
Your risk taking
Increasing their chances
Of the grim reaper
Visiting them, tipping the balances
Against those trying their best
To save lives for all the rest

first twelve bars,... BONERRRRR!!!! 👁🔥👁

addendum to my previous:
I also must add: please do not go inject
the chemicals used to clean and disinfect.
the delicate balance our bodies expect
to keep functioning smoothly, and I'll be direct,
CANNOT BE KEPT WITH SOLUTIONS OF BLEACH;
DO NOT HEED ADVICE FROM THAT SHITGIBBON'S SPEECH
electrolyte balances will be disturbed,
and the cellular walls of our blood cells, superb
little cells which must carry our oxygen through
all our vessels will lyse, and you'll start turning blue
the actual word for this is "cyanosis,"
and that's not to mention the likely necrosis
at site of injection (assuming you live
long enough to see anything); comparative
to the virus I'd say it's not likely improvement
you're probably still gonna die, but the movement
of virus from person to person ain't ceased
just 'cause body of host is amongst the deceased
so I cannot believe that I must beg so plain,
but for me, if not thee: please do not die in vain.
*Slowly puts down needle full of Lysol.

I like spelt! I've been driving my spouse nuts using the word "suss". :fly: She swore it wasn't a real word.

On a personal note, my SIL and grandson have tested positive. Piss, shit, fuck. Both are ok, quarantined at home. My wife is a fucking wreck at this news. I'm trying to think positive.
That sucks. Know that most recover from this. I've had a few cases in my personal life where they're over it now, or coming out of it. Hope they stay healthy and get through it

We also use 'suss' as an adjective

'E's dead suss 'im'

As in 'He's very suspicious'.

When I say 'we' of course I'm referring to the British lower classes (And Australians, but that's redundant once I've already said 'lower classes') who speak like that. It's very what you Americans might call 'ghetto'.

Day 32

Woman

Is it the steady flow
The tide of blood
Sometimes a flood
The turbulence of my body
That traps me, keeps me steady?

Steady in the unstable
Freakishly calm then totally unable
To speak, stop, think, make a sentence
Brain on freeze, biblical penance
For eating an apple
That's what some say
About being a lady

Is it the tears down my cheeks
That keep me in check
In society at large
Under the thumb
Like governments holding a gun
Against my womb and my rights
Holding back my pay just out of sight

Is it the emotional labour
That goes against my favour
And keeps us downtrodden
Or is there something more rotten
At the core of the apple
A shrivvelled raisin, seen as weak
Even at my peak
I can get much higher, outpace you
Hold a million things in my head at once
Know them like the back of my hand
Do it all in one day while doing a headstand

Always under estimated, weaker of the species
Let me get you in on the truth here
You're probably just unaware
That within me burns a passion
That you can't put out
A roar, a rawness, I'll keep up my shout
Because I'm a woman and I give a shit
You can't tell me to shut up and sit

I'll keep coming back and back again
Because you can't keep me down
You've tried for all of humanity
And my height might not be great
But my intellect and will are your worst mate
When you try to contend
With a woman driven round the bend
You have no idea
What she can achieve
I don't think you can conceive
What a lone voice can do
Then joined by other sisters too

Rising up, riding the tide
Being outspoken
Like a broken record
We can't be silenced
Because our roar
You can't outlaw
We'll get what we deserve
By hook or crook
Like you stole from us in every book
Had to hide our names
Pretend to be men's
But now we say it proud
We say it loud
We are women
You can't beat us

Haha, I don't envy a man who's with a woman like me   I don't have wrath at persons or partners, I'm super amiable. I'm just quite radical in my opinions is all...

Also your son cool with posting any of his stuff here?

Day 34

Too busy for you

I didn't write yesterday
I was busy ranting away
About pills and control
And women's rights in zone
Got my head buried in books
Didn't have time for a look
Nevermind a paragraph
About my daily path
During this time
So I didn't do any rhyme

I can't lie I'm a little tired
Of ranting and critiquing
About systems that's need breaking
Into pieces to go back together
Restart with a new mind set, new kinda weather
Some new thought needs to go into this
About how we take the piss
Out of humans in our lives
While politicians they get bribed

By money makers
Pharmaceutical company shakers
Oil barrens and arms dealers
Reaching out with their feelers
Affecting society with their greed
While families have mouths to feed
So I did my rant yesterday
In a 3000 word essay
About the harms and ills
That pathologises and kills
People without the power
To have a voice and shout louder

But I'm back again today
Day thirty four
Still here to stay
Writing away on my smart phone
That was created by tiny parts
From Sierra Leone
Little hands and child labour
Working enslaved in my favour
I must be a hypocrite to sit down
And jot down this shit
About the world and the badness
While I sit tidy with rights
Not given to those children
Digging and clawing for parts
To make my life easy
Where is my heart?

Do I stop to think further
Than my tiny pedastool
Stop playing the fool
While other people lose
In this system of exploitation
My mind can take a vacation
Lucky princess me
In my castle of privilege
Where I can write from and see
What's going on and blame
And be above the country
In my queendom of one
Blocking out what I don't want
To make me feel better
About my smart phone, my lighting
My hot dinners, stocked cupboards
I'm not fighting
No food poverty here
No thank you dear
I got past that and past it again
Not saying I don't return
But for now I can sit pretty
And tell myself I don't pity

People are fucking weird/dumb.

Lines like you wouldn't believe at Wegmans and Walmart to get into the store. Wegmans at least is having stock issues.

Harris Teeter and Sams are totally chill. Sams had fully stocked dead animals too.
No lines at Costco when we went on Thursday, which was a welcome reprieve.
