Im in the bush a lot. We have black bears and wolves. I carry a short spear/ walking stick as a defensive weapon. Its effective visually too. Unless the animal has rabies, its not too thrilled about getting too acquainted with an ape with a spear. Even a devilishly handsome one like me.
