That doesn't happen any more. Rookies get rookie contracts. After that, its just contract law. You can abide by the contract, ask for it to be adjusted, or sit out and not get paid and hope for the best.

I hope it's an identical replacement. Just same-size price-shopping doesn't really work when you're dealing with a speaker. It could blow out your amp, in the worst case (significant impedance mismatch).

And in a more likely scenario, if the speaker parameters don't match, you could get a weird acoustic response coming out of it. Especially if it's in a ported enclosure.
