Puts the "pro" in procrastination
Honestly, as long as it made oil pressure, I probably wouldn't have removed the bearing caps.
SEND IT.

This is the tempIs this supposed to be the "temporary" engine while you do yours up right? Or are you gonna run the one in your truck as is while you build this one up right?
I might be getting confused there.
Dunno if it did, unfortunately. Probably could have hooked the starter up to a battery and checked, but with the gunk I saw in the pan who the hell knows what I would have gotten.Honestly, as long as it made oil pressure, I probably wouldn't have removed the bearing caps.
SEND IT.

Nah, that's normal. Should see something similar on the #1 piston offset, but it may be on the opposite side of the throw.I'm looking at the pic wrong then.
Looks like the red is missing material compared to green.

Bearing are shot, sure, but that's not a deal breaker if the crank is OK.
Like J said, new bearings, plastiguage, there's still hope.
Pass it along. Surprising how few people know about it.Oh yeah, @gee
Good job with the WOT while cranking trick. Definitely helps prevent noise on startup
Besides, "the American Sports Car" was developed by a Belgian.
Today has not been a good day for this engine teardown and checkup. First I get the news of the above, now I find this.
Thanks, but it is what it is.Sorry about your engine Asa.
Added pics of the upper bearings of this. Interesting in the upper bearings look great except for the ends.
Nah, forged rods are the only thing this has that I'd keep on the bottom end. Cast crank, crappy pistons, stock cam. No thanks. This gonna depend on how temporary is temporary I guess. At some point you'll be deep enough into it you may as well just do it all and make this one your new bottom end.
