I'm not sure I follow your logic here. If you have to spend $10,000 in the 1st three months, but it has to be in one calendar year, wouldn't it make more sense to sign up for the cards in January? If someone signs up now, aren't they forfeiting an entire month of spending, ie 1/3 of the time they would have to spend that $10,000?

Is there some indication this promotion will be canceled by then?

I'm just saying to sign up now while both promos are going on. You'll be sure to get the cards by January 1st. And you really only have to spend $4k in three months (assuming you get both cards). You won't get the companion pass until you hit 110,000 miles, which will be good for the remainder of 2013 (whenever you qualify) and the next year. So its best to get to $10k asap, but not required.

I'm working on my air trans one. This deal was too complicated for me.

Yeah, this one is def more work. Hopefully it will result in Ape and I travelling all over the US to hang out with UFers. :happy:

Just got the email today that I've earned my free companion pass. I also ended up earning about $2000 in free airfare from Southwest as well.
