Meh. It's more that juries are made up of the 12 people too stupid to get out jury duty (and dumb enough to make it through voire dire).

So I'm stupid because I wanted to experience it? It was only a waste of time to be because I didn't even get called into voire dire.

No, obviously that would place you in the minority though. In NY you will be fired for serving on a jury, blah blah it's against the law but employers don't have to show cause. They don't even have to notify you you are fired, they just stop paying you. National Guard is the only state agency that will go to bat for you for wrongful termination afaik.

No. I've been called for jury duty every three years since I was eligible and I go every three years. I don't mind. I've been on one trial. It lasted a day. It was no big deal and nobody fired me or cared a lot at all. I don't think I'm stupid either although lately I can't be so sure.
 
got called for my first time a couple years ago and I was an alternate. had to call a number that morning and was told I wasn't needed

That's sad that you think that way. Same with Flys excuse of saying he's always out of town. It's your civic duty to serve if you're called. I hope if either one of you ever have to go to a jury trial you get convicted because you weren't in front of a jury of your peers but more a group of people who were dumb enough to get picked or unemployed and has nothing better to do. Either way it's a weak excuse and you deserved to get fucked if you ever have to go to
Court.
 
Oddly enough, I have never been issued a summons to sit on a jury.

Which is more than fine by me.

Of course, now that I have written this, I'll get one.
