POW POW POW

Price of ammo is up because the companies who produce it are price gouging. These companies have been producing ammo for probably over 100 years in this country and suddenly they are out? Bullshit.

Oh they give them out, but it's of course up to the CLEO in your town and there are a few that "will", but from talking to people that have them it seems you'd need to actually have to get to know the chief first.

Being a firearms instructor helps supposedly.

So it's like getting a handgun permit in NY

Best part about owning a pump action shotgun is that, if it comes down to it, the sound of the sliding action could very well be enough to send your adversary running, if they have half a brain. If they don't, then the resulting invasion of their head with fast moving double aught will indeed leave them with only half a brain.

True. Practically everyone knows what that sound means.

Before most ammo was marked from the '80s. Which was DRMO (defense reutilization something something) stuff, Army was using 1990s brass, so then they started buying the 2000s era brass up etc. It's like how in the Gulf War most of the bombs we dropped were Vietnam era surplus. Goes in cycles, they dont make it all the time.

Not to mention the price of raw copper is at an all time high. You can buy steel cased ammo from eastern europe but it has issues cycling.

-.-

Can't you recycle the casings?

Almost a year has gone and he still hasn't done it. Yet people are still blaming him?

There is still the underlying fear that there will be some strict gun law changes. I just think with the economy and everything else going on there are bigger fish to fry. But soon it will be coming. It's a given when someone from a different party gets into office you can expect attempted gun control changes and health care changes.

*sigh* Aside from it being a childish notion, you lose one round when you dont keep it chambered. Takes a lot longer to pump than it does to just pull the trigger. 9+1 barely feels like enough anyway.

On a side note: Most of the "gander mountain" type shotguns have a sear disconnect which is also not terribly advantageous to bringing firepower to bear (you have to fully release the trigger after each shot, older guns and non-hunter ones you can hold down the trigger and pump).

Reload, a few times yeah (metal fatigue eventually makes them unsafe.) It's kinda painstaking and you need special equipment (each case has to be resized.) You can sell brass to wholesale recyclers too.

Oh and never trust, guys at the range, cops, the atf, gun dealers...

Shotguns are also the most economical thing to do for fun. Plastic shells, cheaper than rifles, parts are cheaper in general. Shooting at clays is easy and relatively fun. The wholesale price of copper has driven the price of ammunition extraordinarly high.

Yeah I was shocked when I started looking at the prices of ammo. I felt bad knowing a magazine of 223s could of cost him up to $15.
.22 ammo is cheap, and while not as fun as a M16. I've always enjoyed shooting 10/22s

And meanwhile gun manufacturers and bullet manufacturers are exploiting the buyers and the buyers are using Obama as a scapegoat still.

I just find it funny that the ones blaming Obama are too stupid to see this.

A friend of mine re-used their own shells (don't know if shotgun shells still have the same worry with fatigue or not) so I figured they could do it with regular casings as well.

Hey man business is business. It's supply and demand. I don't blame them one bit.
