All Sarcasm aside

the people who often say a "degree means nothing" are the exact people who don't actually have a degree

it's not going to answer all of your questions, only you can do that. a degree, when used properly, is perhaps one of the best things you can have under your belt, so long as you have the working experience behind you.

my degree is undergrad, but also the exact same course is offered at postgrad. is a postgrad student going to be preferred to me? of course not, considering he probably done some silly course like anatomy or microbiology in order to be accepted and is now changing pathways aged 23.

it really means very little over here at this point which is really quite unfortunate

almost every polish migrant i've met here is educated up to Masters

one of them had a masters in Chemistry, so being a bit of a fan of chemistry I thought I'd ask a few questions, it drew a complete blank. I think they just hand them out over there like candy to make their workforce look more skilled.

having said that, is an undergrad from Yale or Harvard going to make you less likely to be employed? probably not. Oxford/Cambridge here have almost 100% employment rates within 6 months of graduation. Same can't be said for other Univs.

that's bull puckey. there are tons of jobs that require at least a bachelor's degree, even if they don't care what it's in.

you might as well say a highschool diploma doesn't get you anything. which it doesn't, directly, but try living without one.

ZRH proved me wrong once so I guess he's ticking over alright sans diploma

in your face, mathboy.

meh.. I still it's better to have one than not have one.

It shows, as I tell my 19y.o., that you AT LEAST have sticktoitiveness. you can manage a schedule, you can meet deadlines, etc. hell, you SHOWED UP is worth something in our increasingly apathetic nation.

still, i remain convinced that saying you don't need a degree is akin to saying you don't need a car to live in the US. technically, you don't, but it sure as hell helps (in most cities and all rural areas)
