My grandma had something like 12 brothers and sisters. Then her mom, great-grandma, croaked at 40 leaving kids taking care of kids. I have a great aunt that is virtually the same age as my dad. They all turned out alright but definitely not an ideal situation.

Seriously, they can afford them, they are taken care of, everyone looks happy, that's an awesome house, who cares how many kids they have.

Because the world is overpopulated enough?

I'm all for kids and babies and stuff, but, really, 18 is just telling the world 'Fuck you, we will consume like locusts until we all die from lack of resources'.

theac's point is my concern. why are they having all these children? there's no way each child can get individual attention. they work like a unit and i don't see how they have room to be individuals. or feel special to their parents.

Gotta compete with the red chinese somehow.

edit: or the south asians.

Humans are a stain on the earth with as much pollution and destruction we create.

2012 April for Pres and for perm birth control after two kids.

The world is overpopulated if you enjoy those empty spaces to get away to. Do you really want to wait until there are condos in the Grand Canyon to declare that we simply have too many goddamn people? Tenements blanketing the Rocky Mountains?

I don't agree that the world is overpopulated, there are plenty of empty spaces.

We don't have enough resources for current first world citizens, let alone all the third world countries that want to be 1st world. We're quickly running out of:

* wood
* oil
* fish
* salvageable farmland
* solar energy (believe it or not)
* a shitload of other things

It may not seem like it, but we CANNOT sustain current use levels of natural resources. And don't expect that science can solve it, as most of the "solutions" end up being problems that we didn't think of.

WE'RE RUNNING OUT OF THE SUN!!

Indeed, or according to the book Collapse anyway, something in like the next 50 years we will be using 100% of available solar energy. Meaning that there is a certain percentage used to heat the planet, the rest is bonus. Its predicted that we'll be using all of the bonus by then.

If we could move the earth closer to the sun we'd get more energy, faster.
