i do that, but I like to use "ya dig?" which is much shorter and more efficient.".... you know what I'm saying?"
Yes, I know what you are saying, because you just said it. Wow!
edit: (as george carlin said in one of his routines) ".... I heard that!"
Yes, of course you heard that, because I'm standing right next to you. I'm going to move over here....
Quoted for iron knee.
Don't forget "all y'all," which is used when addressing groups of more than three.
I also use the "you know what Im sayin'?" thing. But bear in mind that I work in a machine shop and sometimes all you get back as a response to instructions is a grunt, so I often have to reaffirm that Ive been understood.
"I askt him what he said." "I will askt."
Or how ever your would spell it. It is ask. Just one K at the end of that word.

"I'm gonna be honest with you"
No you aren't .. no one is ever "honest" with you when this spills from their mouth.
"I hear what your saying"
No you don't, 9 times out of 10 if you ask someone to repeat 1/2 of what you said back 10 minutes later .. they won't have a CLUE what you were talking about.
Although .. neither of these are probably considered slang though.
