Food So Has Anyone Brewed Beer Before?

woohoo started brewing again. This is an 11 gallon batch of a brown ale. I'm hoping to rush it a bit and keg it this weekend. That may be to agressive, we'll see.

what are you using to track the fermentation like that? working from home i've got lots of time to tend to things periodically, it would be nice to make beer to go with the meats I'm smoking.

I also accidentally bought some Turbo Yeast for the beer, not knowing that you really don't want to ferment beer with it. So instead, I'm just going to feed it 5 pounds of cane sugar to ferment our first seltzer. Previously we just mixed vodka with water and flavorings.

interesting, I'd be down to try a seltzer. Are you guys still kegging this or does it go into bottles?

a friend in scandanavia sent me some dry kveik yeast a couple years ago but I haven't brewed with it yet.

Kegging. We've got a 6 tap draft system. Waaaay too lazy to bottle all that. You can get Kviek here. It's pretty awesome as you really don't need to control fermentation temperature. It will ferment pretty clean up to like 90F.

Oh that's nice. I feel like if I had that much beer on hand all the time I'd be chronically intoxicated. Sometimes it's nice to start drinking at lunch and carry through the end of the day.

I know, it seems pretty popular now. He sent it with some other stuff (seeds, etc) so it was part of a package deal. I've always done fermentation under 75F. I've got a basement now so it's a constant 71 degrees all year. It was really nice when I grew some mushroom spawn for my garden. Winecaps are pretty delicious

@APRIL and I actually barely drink from it. It's just there for when friends come over.

We'll be selling the whole thing before we move, as we'll have no friends. :(
If I have an easy cold beverage it seems to take precedence over all others. I have a dozen sodastream bottles I cycle through like a basic bitch. I'll forget about alcohol for a month or two and then it's game on for a few weeks until I get bored with it.

When are you guys moving? Seems like you've got a bunch of renovating still in process?
