Food So Has Anyone Brewed Beer Before?

woohoo Picked up a new chest freezer to be used as a beer fermenter. Last one broke. This one will actually hold 3-4 five gallon fermenters, should we ever actually need to do that.

I also found this article the other day, so we might try a 3-in-1 batch.

So we brewed a triple IPA over the weekend. I checked on the yeast yesterday morning and *nothing* was happening. I got a little worried that maybe we did something wrong. Turns out we sorta did. It got 'cool' here overnight and the wort had cooled down to 63F. I looked up the yeast and they prefer it 65F-75F. Once I warmed it up, they started going to town.

Crazy that they completely shut down because it was 2F too cold.

You can see where they turned back on in the chart here.

And in the 'no one cares' category, here's the beer line up for our 5k event this weekend:

1. Moon Tea: This is a cranberry and hibiscus kettle soured beer (5.2%)
2. Ye's Nuts: A fluffernutter inspired winter ale (7.1%)
3. Moose Knuckle: Stout packed full with maple, chocolate, and coffee (8.4%)
4. TVTA: Triple hopped and dry hopped IPA (8.5%)
5. Dick or Treat: Our classic pumpkin beer with milk sugar and marshmallow (4.9%)
6. Dick Juice: Blue raspberry hard seltzer (5%)

We also have two full spare kegs of (different) beer. I think we made enough.
