FedEx contracts out for at least some of their delivery types (so like, there's Ground, Express, and Home Delivery & each one is kind of its own thing). Jason drives for FedEx but is employed by someone else who bought the route from FedEx (or from another contractor, they buy/trade routes from each other)I thought UPS was doing the "gig economy" thing and making all their drivers independent contractors to release them from liability for things like that.
i would also imagine it's much more difficult to unionize contractorsContracting those types of jobs is the easiest way for an employer to wash their hands of responsibility while fucking someone.

replace em all with robots.
> what do you mean you can't find a job, you think you're too good to flip burgers? That’s happening too.
The result is thirtysomethings manning the frie station at McD’s part time and people complaining that McD’s wasn’t designed for middle aged folks to be manning the fries.
working class history isn't taughtYep, and they hate unions too. I don’t get why common man hates unions so much now, even though our society would look way different had unions never existed.
MOTHERFUCKERS
"I prefer this job be done, but the doers of it should be in poverty".As the skill required to do a job approaches zero, so should the pay.
thats basically "we'd have slaves do it if we could""I prefer this job be done, but the doers of it should be in poverty".
Especially with the virulent libertardianism in the IT/development fields.working class history isn't taught
&
people see themselves as tomorrow's CEO, not today's worker drone
it doesn't take much skill to wipe a shitty ass, and folks that think this are going to be real sad when they're left sitting ulcerated in their own waste because being an unskilled care worker doesn't warrant a living wageAs the skill required to do a job approaches zero, so should the pay.
Well, we p. much still do have slaves.thats basically "we'd have slaves do it if we could"
Except those jobs don't go unfilled. That's how market forces work. McDonalds needs burgers flipped. If that position isn't filled, guess what they do. Raise the salary for that position! OMG!it doesn't take much skill to wipe a shitty ass, and folks that think this are going to be real sad when they're left sitting ulcerated in their own waste because being an unskilled care worker doesn't warrant a living wage
