you know, unpredictable stuff thats not a bill thats the same every month.

Pretty certain fly has a set monthly budget for those items.

My finances are real easy. Every fortnight I pay bills and buy groceries, then I have nothing left. Super simple.

Once I went 100% cashless, the advantages of using mint or a similar service that tracked all of my spending, be it discretionary or budgeted, went a long way to helping me in fixing some runaway aspects of my budget.

I dunno why you guys bother segregating savings from checking. The rate of return on savings is so low as to not be worth taking advantage of.

and negotiate everything! Beef shanks were on sale for $2.99/lb (regular grocery store) and I asked the guy, 'what's the price if I buy 20 lbs?' (I needed it & I was being sarcastic but BAM. another 15% off!

that's not negotiating, that's buying in bulk. Pretty much everything is discounted if you buy in bulk.

We get a slightly better return on our savings account that makes it worth it.

Not that there’s a lot comparatively in either versus the investment accounts.

That's the poor mans way these days. If you aren't taking advantage of credit card points, you are paying too much for your goods.
