certainly a solid plan. I had 2 years of state school to knock out prereqs and figure out what they actually wanna do and then 2 at whatever school the kid wanted the diploma from.

An apprenticeship would be fine too, skilled tradesmen earn a solid living.
Or have the fukn kid pay for it themselves. Both April and I did it and are fine...

I paid for myself too. But that was only through the good graces of grandmothers and others giving me something to start on over my life.

Working 60 hour weeks while in school just to afford tuition is a sure way to flunk outta school

I started out at CC, dropped out because I liked working more. Did well without a degree, then went back to school to finish it.

No shame, feel more self sufficient doing it this way.

Life doesn't have to be in the same order as everyone else.

Graduate high school
Graduate college
Get job
Get married
Have babies
Die.

Kind of a lackluster plan, if you ask me.

Then work 20 hours a week and take student loans. The (tax deductible) interest rate of the loans more than pay for themselves with higher earnings. And the kid is more likely to place value on it because it wasn't handed to em for free.

Dying first kinda interferes with everything else though.

My grandfather left me (and each of my cousins, individually) a sizable college fund that my parents managed up until I started school.

Then I took over management of it, because I went to a state school with a full ride scholarship. Then I did my graduate degree on my employer's dime.

My folks started a 519 for my kids, and I'm managing that.

I'll contribute to the college funds of whatever grandchildren my crotchfruit produce.

There are a couple things in the (hopefully) decades of life after having the babies :D
