no price? and fireos is a piece of shit. So, the new Amazon Fire HD 10 was recently announced. It comes out Oct 11.
The basics.
I currently have it sitting in cart, debating on pulling the trigger. I'm thinking it's time to get a current gen tablet and move away from laptops, as I just use my laptop in the manner I'd use a tablet anyway, and I like the hands free Echo/Alexa integration. Anyone else been looking at this?

If/when there's root. I've got a Fire tablet here sitting off, waiting for root. It's been that way for months.$149 for 32gb with lock screen adds. $163 for the same with no ads.
All told, for the 10', 32gb, 64gb sd card, and stand up cover, I it ran me $243 with tax. Not bad for a 10" HD tablet. I know FireOS sucks but it's a small inconvenience. If it's really untenable I'll just root it with a different ROM. I'm curious about the Alexxa/Echo integration.
And since it integrates with my Prime account, the easy downloading of media for traveling is attractive.
Lots of mays and maybes and tries. I'll wait until a more reliable method is available. FireOS sucks but I generally only use this for light couch use

Yes, Amazon does not want you to root their devices and actively release updates to close exploits.Did Amazon do something to kill it, or was it just a bad 3rd party build to begin with?

If you can root it, you can prevent OTA updates, so you'd be fine. Just gotta wait for someone to find a new exploit...So, if you root it before the release comes out, are you safe, or is the release/update mechanic sitting beneath the OS level?

You should really consider tooting. It's good for the heart. Maybe add some fiber to your diet?It really is a crap OS. Haven't looked into tooting yet
