What are the best chews for puppies? Hopefully long lasting that don't cost a ton cause she can work her way through a 7 dollar bully stick in a few hours. I'm trying to stay away from rawhide cause I've heard bad things about them.

Ok, according to the DNA test, Luna/Quinn dogs are 67% pitt, 25% mixed breed (past the third generation), and 12% chow.

Which, wtf, chow, really?

Fucking Boxer Mix my ass.

Luna really likes a chunk of antler. As close to raw bone as I can get and not worry about her leaving it out for the couple weeks it takes her to gnaw it down.

If puppy still has baby teeth, I don't know how good a choice that is, though.

@Dory, thoughts?

Nylabones. We had a bulldog that could make its way though anything (he would chew on firewood). Any other "dog-proof" toy would be destroyed in 30 minutes, but these lasted a month.

Do NOT get rawhide - they eat them and throw them up.

That's interesting, how much for the testing? I bet a lot of "purebreed" owners might be chagrined if they tested the dogs.

I second the nylabone. My sister's huge golden retreiver (who in the past ate fishing waders and a rain boot) likes them. He only likes the flavored (or scented ?) ones. Mr Picky, but eats rain boots.

Mine doesn't like Nylabones. Only edible chews, carpet, flip flops, and couches.

Nowadays, even if there is a particular breed you want, there are rescue organizations. Of the 4 bulldogs I've owned, 3 were rescues, and the 4th was from an owner who could not take care of it any more.
