Advice A moral dilemma - what would you do?

nice emotionally charged trap question

do you feel bad for all of the stray dogs that you see on the street but don't personally try to save?

That concludes our session for today.

I feel bad every time i drive by a cardboard box on the side of the road and consider that theyre might be kittens in it.

I hope that leaving kittens in a cardboard box on the side of a road is not still a thing, or never was. But it might be.

I do the same thing! Also look under driving cars for tails of pets hanging down because they got up in there for warmth.

It was raining and it probably got up inside the car and at a stop light jumped out and the car behind it hit it.

There are 2 schools of thought.

It 'could' be a reward for past performance.

But, my first thought, and I've learned to trust my instincts, is that they got a hint I was going to quit and this was their lame attempt to try and prevent that. They aren't real smart with people management around there, and I suspect they think more money is the answer to my issues with that place, and not the fact they are horrible managers who have created an absolutely shitty environment to work in.

In short, it's a lame attempt at a retention bonus.

I honestly thought you, of everyone here, would be in the 'no, give it back' group.
I was once offered a $6 raise to stay at a job. That shit only made me leave sooner. Those fuckers thought I was worth 6 more dollars an hour and were holding out. Fuck 'em.

Part of me says if your gut said not to take it, then don't. Another part of me says if it is for past work, then it's definitely worth it to take it.

I might be wishy washy and as I was handing in the resignation letter start off slow and say "about that bonus..." and see if your boss says anything - make them take the lead. If the boss says nothing go with your gut and the first thing that comes out is the right thing.
