The life expectancy for ball joints varies depending on the kind of vehicle and driving you're doing. Generally speaking if your car has over 80,000 miles, the ball joints are shot.

I don't know anyone that put 80,000 miles on their car every year though. I do know a lot of people that have had to replace the ball joints on their GM more than once in a year or at least annually. I know stuff wears out on cars, but not like that.
 
I do. Everyone makes fun of me for wearing nitrile gloves when doing car work but I don't think the average idiot gets how toxic some of the fluids are.

Me too! But it's because I'm neurotic about gunk under my nails.
