I see for two days now Biden can't remember if he's running for President or the Senate again. :waw:

Hey @HipHugHer , tell me about this libertarian candidate you seem to like.
Abolish the (insert extremely long list of bullshit we don't need here). Shrink the government to a small fraction of its size, scope, and cost. Stop giving our money away all over the world. Stop meddling with our military all over the world. Get the government out of not only your bedroom but your entire house, your business, and your bank account too.

What's not to like?

So you're aware, 60% of our national budget goes towards whats called mandatory spending. The large chunk of mandatory spending is social benefits. Social security, SNAP, Medicare.

The other 40% is where the military dominates. Even a 10% shift to put 70% into mandatory spending (lets say... expand medicare to all) would make a huge difference in quality of life for most americans.

Defense doesn't have to be nearly that expensive if it was really national defense instead of international offense/policing/babysitting. Add to that all the wanton waste, abuse, good ol' boy contracts, etc. and it can be cut a huge amount.

Social security has been broken for a long time. That money we've paid in isn't sitting there growing waiting for us. It's all been pissed away on other things or used to pay off earlier "investors".
People who paid in need to be paid out obviously. People also need to be able to opt out and/or opt in to some real IRA type deal that's actually theirs and sits there growing until they retire. SS as it is now needs to be gradually phased out or replaced.

All that while debt is so many trillions and growing a lot of people can't even conceive of how much it is. The old "dollar bills stacked high enough to reach the moon" isn't even an applicable description anymore.

Shifting money around in the budget (take 10% from here and put it there instead) accomplishes nothing. The entire thing needs to be cut.

Literally everything else lol. Also, I like when the government does stuff. Fuck insurence middle men. Health care is a basic necessity. The least the government can do is regulate the ever-loving shit out of it. She doesn't even want pre-existing conditions to be covered. Even Trump is smart enough to lie about pre-existing being covered.

by saying social security needs to be phased out you're saying wall street should control whether people starve in retirement.

debt interest payments are 220B out of the trillions in the budget. Its big, but not that big.
