The good thing about Milwaukee is it's very versatile. You do have a beach life in the summer. Along with that, the bars at or near the lake downtown. It's definitely a very casual social scene in the summer and that makes Milwaukee awesome.
In winter, it's just the opposite, boring and dreary.
