@MacG I don't lnow what access you have to information but what I'm seeing is really confusing. Two commentators in Turkey say the following

Leader of main opposition #Turkey: Our country suffered from military coups, we do not want to have same troubles
Turkish Naval Forces Chief Bostanoğlu: "We do not recognize this attempt. ... We talked with John Kerry."
There are also many reports saying that police arrests soldiers participating in the coup. There are some videos and photos too.
