Possibly, but being a hobo takes time, and having to re-knit my hat after every meal would be tough.
Brown butchers' paper, and some crisp white string?
One you get a good darning momentum you'd be surprised how quickly your hobo knit gloves can be patched up.
I'm all thumbs.
Cut 'em off other hobos and sewed them in place of my fingers.
It's what I use to get around town.
