Actual phobia. Can't touch a jar, can't smell it, can't be near it. My housemates have to hide it behind things in their food cupboards incase I open and see it there and get freaked.

Marmite is made from the yeast extract which is a by-product of brewing. It's been made for over 100 years in Burton-on-Trent, the British beer brewing capital. It's marketed as 'You either love it or hate it'

The reason for 'British teeth' is actually historic. During the second World War and for many years afterwards, the poor diet here ( rationing was in place into the 50's) caused a lot of gum disease. It was normal up until the 60's for people to have false teeth. This is no longer the case but people with no real knowledge perpetuate the myth. We do not, however, place such a premium on appearance that we spend thousands on our teeth as Americans tend to.

That's a shame. Reading long things is what separates the educated from the ignorant quite often. Try building up your attention span with comics, then newspapers. With work you can manage whole books, or maybe that's just a British thing too
