So last night my husband and I drove down to Ikea about an hour away to buy a desk. On the way in saw if that you spent over $399 on the ikea card you got 12 months same as cash. So we pick out our stuff, got a couple other things and spent just over $500. We get to the register right at closing time and I said I wanted to get an Ikea card. Well the lady at the register said oh you had to apply for that when you come in and I was said well no one tells you that. And she was just kind of ignored it and repeated the total. So we throw it on a credit card.
Well money is tight with medical bills right now and what not so I decide I'd rather put it on the ikea card. So we call and check with customer service and they said we would have to physically return it to the store and repurchase the item on the Ikea card. So tongight we reload the stuff in the car and drive back down. Go in, apply for the card and get approved. We go to customer service and I wanted to make sure we had to carry everything back in. I go about telling the lady the issue and she's like I don't know if we can do that. I say I called Ikea's customer service line and they said it isn't a problem. So she calls someone and tells them about half of what I said and then says we can't transfer the purchase onto a different card. I said I am not transfering, I want to repurchase the items. Well she said the way we have to do it is return what we bought, then go and get the items off the shelf and go through check out. I tell her that we purchased the last one of one of the main pieces, so can we just buy back what we purchased. She says no, it has to be checked back in, then go back into the back and it will be returned to stock tomorrow. I tell her its an hour drive, and further more the customer service people said we could do it and she just says well I don't know what to tell you.
In conclusion I am pissed off and Ikea will be hearing from me until something is resolved. I was so mad, I walked right out... and had to wait for my husband who stopped for an ice cream cone.
