It was a layer or two (depending on the spot) of plaster and lathe, with drywall covering that...fly said:

That basement looks cool. Or is that just the furnace room? I dig the stone work.
There's also a small dirt and rock crawl space under the dining room, and then a nicer well insulated and flat crawl space under the addition (family room)
