I mean,she is an idiot and that is horrible, but you can get months in jail for typing stuff on someone's social media?

Reading the rest of the article, it sounds like there was more. I believe that usually a death threat has to be somewhat credible to get jail time.

you can get months in jail for standing outside of someone's house with a sign that says the same thing. the crime is the threat regardless the delivery system
 
Good grief. I'm kinda surprised the police continued the chase on the beach.
I thought police used a catch you later approach when it comes to car chases into crowded places.
