Because unlike most other games (unless you cheat) it actually takes skill.

I don't like UT because you can just hold the button down and spray and pray and still be accurate.

BF2 is fun but takes forever and a year to load a map.

Company of Heroes is fun, but I really like FPS more.

Plus there's numerous mods out for it that give the game a whole 'nother element

I've been playing Lord of the Rings Online lately. If an MMO looks interesting I'll usually play for about a month before losing interest. Other than that I don't play many games any more.
