Yep winter is the slow time. Breeds can vary a lot but around 3 a week or one every other day seems to be something of an average. These sexlinks I got are supposed to be something of a super layer in exchange for shorter lives, lol but they were just getting started when the days were already short.
My little coop could handle a couple more but sticking with this for now. It's enough the 2 of us can have hearty breakfast on the weekends, maybe 1 or 2 left over for something else. That should increase by a good 50% or so when things get in full swing.
I'm cool hand luke caliber when it comes to boiled eggs, probably never have enough chickens to support that, but I don't mind plain store bought ones for that. Quantity is a quality all its own.
These rich, gold yolk homegrowns are best over-easy for me. Bonus if they're soaking into some fried potatoes, hashbrowns, or a soggy sandwich.
