It's expensive in the store. Just buy a pound of butter, melt it, and skim off the solids. Chill the leftovers and you've got ghee. Takes 10 mins tops.

I've always known that as clarified butter. Never heard it called ghee before I don't think.

I had no idea it was expensive. I swore I saw it once and the price didn't freak me out - at least not compared to quality butter here.

I might actually have some butter at home I could do it with today if I ever get my work done.

That's what 'Merkins call it. In India it's known as ghee.
