Food Beer bread!

How was it???
Turned out great. I didn't let it rise for long, and baked it at 350F for a long time so it ended up with a very thick crust. Inside was dense and chewy.

I don't think sourdough originated with 'the jews'.
Sure it did. They started out selling sourdough bread, which allowed them to bankroll the jewish conspiracy network of today.

Up until around a hundred and fifty years ago sourdough bread was just called bread. It wasn't until the invention of commercial yeast that anyone made a distinction.

Um...I bake. I'm just not familiar with bread, like at all.

You should try it - super easy to do. I like to make all kinds of breads from "quick breads" to ones that require yeast. Last night I just made naan. I love the stuff so I am glad I get it hot and fresh at home!

Admittedly I don't recall having sourdough bread until I was probably a teen or so. Like I said our French bakery/bistro nearby sells a great bread they call "Peasant Bread" and it's sourdough. I love the stuff.

Reading up on history the first recorded use of sourdough bread was by the Egyptians in 1500BC - and it was common out west in the 1800s particularly in San Francisco - so not sure it is just a "white people" bread given the mix of what was out west then (lots of Spanish influence and a huge influx of so many different people during/after the gold rush).

I like to make flatbreads. Have you ever made Syrian onion bread? It's kinda like naan but with onion and a hint of mint.

You gotta make a thread...
I have a twofold problem with this.

* I have a hard time taking pics of stuff while doing it.
* I have to then edit and actually post it.

I still have all the pics from when I made that mayonnaise cake, haven't managed to find time to post them up. :(

Who has the best naan recipe and cooking technique?

I just use the pizza stone at high temps, and it have been looking online for a way to create an homemade tandoori oven.

"Edit"? bah. Content > quality as far as I'm concerned when I'm making a thread.

I take pics with my cellphone camera as I go and upload 'em with the imgur app, get on the laptop "type like I'm talking" when I bang out the text, hop on imgur and insert the BB code images (I don't resize shit, either the forum software resizes everything or fly's losing his shit at me)... and done.

There's an imgur app? Link plz. This will greatly assist me.

Get some fire bricks at a home store, make a brick box inside your oven. Takes about an hour to preheat but you get brick oven goodness at home. I keep mine in a box and set it up as needed when making pizzas and breads and stuff. It makes the best crust  omg

Nope, can't eat onion so it's sadly out. Bad thing is I LOVE the taste of onion, but onion gives me massive headaches and makes me feel quite ill for a day :(

April, I just put the oven on the highest broil setting and I gently spray a thin cooking sheet with oil and put it in for a few minutes. I don't do well with pizza stones (klutz) and this is what someone suggested after learning from her grandmother straight from India when they didn't have access to tandoori ovens.

It takes more time to cook than a tandoori oven still but much better than other methods I've heard/tried (like frying on a stove top does NOT work well)
