[Article] Article: Make your own laundry detergent

hard water, soft water, pffft. My water is dead in the middle, and has no excess of anything unwanted.

We have no smell.

I guess I should've added that we do have a water softener, too. :fly:

You have vinegar that doesn't smell?

Then I have soft water here in Ohio, and Disney World is hard water.

I think it might also depend on the soap you use. Bar soaps like Dial tend to make your skin feel resistant like you are talking about.

I can't truly vouch for DW, but I know we have hard water, and I don't feel icky after my showers here. I also know we don't have a softener.

We have a water softener in the basement. I don't like to use them so we don't. Hard water really just means the soap doesn't lather as much and mineral deposits get on shower/faucets so we have to clean those more often.

From what I understand since soap isn't as reactive in hard water, so it is harder to lather. There is conflicting reports on which is better for rinsing soap away (specific to soap) though hard water can leave a film where soft doesn't in the dishwasher. On the skin many say that hard water is better for rinsing but the minerals can leave you feeling more dry with it. Oddly I personally do not feel as clean when I am in a home here in Ohio who has softened water - I feel more "slippery" and I don't like it. I hate the taste too. However hard water is more drying.

I thought I was told Disney softens water, but I can't find it. Some say they soften it during treatment from a quick google but I can't say for sure. In general I have read that FL water is harder than Ohio.

For the record we use Dove soap at home ;) I am kind of picky on soaps and that one doesn't seem to dry me out as much as others.

Yes and when something isn't connected, it means we don't have a water softener.

I love soft water. I will have a water softener in my next house. Doesn't really make sense to spend the money for this one though.

We are the same, our skin much prefers kirk's. My daughter would get dry skin and the dove made no difference. Switched it up to kirks and she has no more issues with dry skin.
