Tampa House Hunting Adventure

Based on some article that I can't find right now about how the psyche works. Something about the fact that if you look at too many items when making a decision, you end up focusing on one or two insignificant things. Apparently its best to look at a few, then take a break if you don't like them (assuming time permits).
Yup, I watched that TED Talk as well.

However, the point of that (from what I remember) was that if you don't know about it then subconsciously you end up hung up on it. If you know you're liable to be ok.

Florida actually has, in some areas, a real radon issue. Older homes, like the bungalo style thats popular with trendies, would be more likely to need them.

Yeah, but those homes are so old and leaky, I fail to see how it matters. I think I remember reading that even for basements, the EPA required something ridiculously low like 30 cf/m to get rid of it. A 120mm computer fan can do like twice that.

I don't do TED, but think I read it on Lifehacker which means its probably the same thing.

Honestly the only thing I really didn't like was the cabinetry and age of the appliances and such, and despite those they were in good repair.

eh, inside is pretty shitty in general imo.

Lot is awesome.

Inside can be changed (with cash)

Negative, senor. I look at just about everything and go "we can make this work"
However, she is focusing on silly useless details.

Right now I'm just trying to get a handle on what the hell she wants in a house, I thought I knew and obviously I have no clue, therefore I am viewing many houses.

I'm still pissed at how she turned this place down before she even got there.

She still likes this monstrosity

I like the monstrosity too. Just needs paint.

The monstrosity has too many nets. Do you get hail in Florida? That entire structure would be obliterated in Texas 5 or 6 times a year.

And at least 750 less square feet. The ceilings are huge, the cubic feet inside that place are out of control. Cooling it in the middle of summer would suck donkey dick.

We have mosquitos the size of golf balls, does that count?

I can't remember seeing hail for several years... I remember that I used to.

Just looks dated to me.

Everything is very square. angular, weird colors, sharp corners.

5k and a paint job could probably make it awesome. Its all aethetic, it can be changed.
An old house looks dated? You don't say!

See, that's what I'm trying to get her to understand, and she doesn't want to listen.
