Ontopic Landlords out there?

Uh no, I meant the exterior actually. What a house looks like inside is irrelavent if it's a 2 up, 2 down terraced house (row house?) in a sh*tty place. In fact you just don't get terraced houses in nice places so yes..terraced house = horrible. Kthx. I dunno about what kind of weird reality you live in but exterior and location are huge reasons for price here.

SETTLE DOWN, CARYS. LET'S GO MAKE BABIES.

I'm happy for you. I do not and will never again own any property that has a HOA.

The condo board in my complex is actively embezzling a great amount of our funds to improve their lives while letting the complex slip into disrepair. We removed them in 2001 and made the complex beautiful, however they all got voted back into office around 2006 when everyone started not caring anymore. Now we are worse off than before.

I could go on for hours, but the meat of it is that the woman running our association is a convicted felon (embezzlement) who brags about letting her sons and friends live in foreclosures for free, while all getting sweetheart deals for services around the complex. (That they perform poorly if at all) It's awesome. The building department has fined us over $5k this year.

Looked at a house with an HOA once, had never heard of them before at that point, realtor hands us a book of rules, I read like halfway down the first page and said no thanks.

Of course it isn't. I'll still have the option to pay interest only. Why the hell wouldn't I want that?

Not getting any equity.
Burning money in essence due to not paying your loan off at all.
Having to re-finance in 10 years just so you don't pay out the ass when you have to start paying your principal

Did you forget that I'm currently paying more than the 30 year mortgage payment?

Was trying to re-collect the conversation. As stated above, for some reason, I thought you said you weren't paying anything but interest.

Nope. Just have the option to. When we got the mortgage it was a super sweet deal. I think we only put $500 down. Then it was a 10+30 at a fixed interest rate, with no PMI.

And now we get to keep that deal and they are going to reduce the interest rate.
